Of friends and wine

I saw 3 Idiots today. The best thing about it is the nearly-3-hour film hardly has slow moments. Aamir easily fits into the role of the 22-year-old college guy. Wonder when Hirani's next Munnabhai will be released.

To folks who're reading this, I hope you've had a great Christmas and I'm sure you're going to have a wonderful new year.

This is a special time for me because every year, I draw new year cards for my school gang. They smile as they look at my tera-mera drawing and that smile makes me so happy. I just finished doodling on 15 cards.

Like someone said, real friendship is like wine...

That reminds me, I plan to make around 10 bottles of wine this year. It's going to be a very laborious job...but the final product is worth all the hard work. I couldn't make wine last year since I was in Delhi. I still have one April 2008 bottle that I'm saving...I want to make it vintage stuff before it is tasted. Cheers!

Weary way towards MA

Don't get tricked by the pic..I was just posing!

MA classes began today...it's a distance programme and we have just 10-12 class-days a year... the first of those happened today and I'm yet to meet an interesting (I'll let you decide what I mean by 'interesting') classmate.

What this beginning means, is that I have to begin studying again! Damn I so hate studying! Anyway, I asked for it, won't look back from here. The plan is to pass and add an MA to my CV...let's see what's in store.

Missing school

Hello people!
Been more than a year and a half since my last post...today I thought let's post a little something again. Yesterday was my school annual day, and here's a little bit of what transpired there. I feel like going back to school...

I had a wonderful time. Met up with Sohini ma'am, Nirupam sir..and gosh Saibal sir has lost so much weight! He looks handsome! I also caught up with painter Chattopadhyay sir, Bhanja sir, Joydeep sir and many others. It felt so good. Personally, the best part was meeting with Nandita Singh ma'am. I was seeing her after so many years...

"Do you remember me, ma'am?"
"Yes of course, Arnab!" she said holding my hand.
"You've grown! What are you doing now?"
I gave her the details.
"It's been so many years..you were our class teacher in class 2, or was it 3?" I couldn't recall the exact year.
"It's class 1," she said.

I was so touched..it's been a decade and a half since I was in class 1. Fifteen batches in between..hundreds of new faces..yet she remembered..nearly got tears in my eyes..

Now the bathos...

Though a source told me Pradhan has mellowed down a lot (Is it after she went through the I hate Daisy Pradhan comm?" I asked ;), I saw her holding kids (who were dancing to Anjan's songs) by their ears and making them sit down..the usual party-spoiler. I was going in that direction and she was coming towards me...she sported a smile, just about to talk to me, but I ignored her and strode straight forward. You think that was rude? I intend to be rude to that woman...she does not deserve to be a teacher..and if you have any doubts, you should have read posts in the I Hate Daisy Pradhan community before the owner deleted it.

Apart from the Pradhan bit, I enjoyed every bit of today, including my visit to the school loo...brought back old memories of us escaping GB's class and hiding there. It's got a new look (albeit shabby)!
